Marshall County ate up yards but wasn’t able to convert that to the scoreboard in a 41-20 loss to Calloway County at Jack Rose Stadium Friday.

The Marshals tallied 255 rushing yards and 201 passing yards while giving up a total 409 to the Lakers. But Kameron Bowerman and Landon Utley’s rushing touchdowns and a pair of Logan Parker field goals were all Marshall County could muster to drop to 2-2 on the season.

Bowerman had 112 yards rushing off 29 carries and Utley had 111 yards off 20 carries to lead Marshall’s ground attack. Quarterback Quinn Smith, who rushed for 32 yards off six keepers, threw for 189 yards with seven completions off 12 attempts. But Smith was also saddled with three interceptions in the loss.

Aiden Dunigan had three receptions for 79 yards.

Calloway’s Kanyon Franklin was 17-of-25 passing for 160 yards and three touchdowns. Timarian Bledsoe also added a rushing score.

What’s Next: Marshall County remains on the road Friday as they enter First District 6A play at McCracken County.
