DRAFFENVILLE -- Last Saturday ended the 40th successful Marshall County Cross Country Invitational. Teams traveled from as far as four hours away to compete on the course of the 2019 KHSAA region one race scheduled for October 26. Over 40 schools brought 65 teams to run the event. Almost 800 athletes ran the elementary race, high school 5k, and middle school 4k.

The Marshals took third place in the boys 5k behind West Plains, Mo. and Daviess County. Two Marshals were unable to complete the race due to course injuries, losing their higher-ranking finishes.

Mason Cosner finished first for Marshall, sixth overall with a time of 17:07.09. Cade Flatt came in 15th at 17:34.99.

Jackson Miller, Knox Sandlin, and Samuel Lanham rounded out the team score. Miller crossed at 17:50.26, Sandlin at 17:55.16, and Lanham finished with 19:05.38.

THIS WEEK: The Marshals will be hosting the Mad Marshall Dash Thursday evening. This race is a favorite with teams being divided into two groups and starting on two different start lines. The teams merge into one race just before the one mile marker to finish together.
