DRAFFENVILLE -- Wednesday, Jan. 8, Marshall County High School announced that it had accepted football coach Evan Merrick's letter of resignation.

"Marshall County High School would like to thank coach Evan Merrick for his hard work and dedication to the Marshall County football program," Marshall County athletic director Mike Johnson stated in a news release.

Merrick came to Marshall County for the 2014 season following Ron Barnard. He took over following a 1-10 season and finished 2-9 his first season. Merrick led the team to 5-6 for the 2016 season, the best record during his time as head coach.

Last season, the Marshals finished 2-9 taking Ballard Memorial in a season opening win at home, 37-6. They earned their second win at Calloway County, 20-14.

"The head coaching position will be posted immediately and the search process will begin for a new head coach," Johnson added.
