HENDERSON â€" The Marshall soccer team ended the season on a win over Henderson County last Tuesday evening. The boys fought for the win of a close 3-2 matchup between the two teams.
Last year, Henderson County finished as District 6 champions. This year they are ranked third in their region.
Bryson Penn was on the board twice for the Marshals, and Drake May added his own goal, bringing the Marshall County score to three. Two assists went to Kiefer Court and Jack Noles.
Ben Burkeen worked hard at the goal only letting two get by him and working six saves.
The win was tough, but the pressure was off the Marshals as they had finished the regular season undefeated in Second District and First Region action. Sitting at the top of the rankings, the Marshals get to sit out the first round of post-season soccer play.
The Marshals will enter the tournament Tuesday in the second round to play the winner of round one. The winner will then advance to the championship game Thursday evening in Mayfield.
