DRAFFENVILLE -- A week of volleyball wins for the Lady Marshals is good motivation heading into the district tournament this week. Last night, Monday, Oct. 21, the Lady Marshals faced Calloway County for a seat in the district four championship game, and, ultimately, a trip to the region one tournament.
The Lady Marshals had no district matchups on the schedule this week. They played two sets against Crittenden County for the win last Monday (25-13, 25-22). Marshall County earned points on aces by Halle Langhi, Jessica Hicks, Clara Bradley, Peyton Gresham, Alyssa McClain, and Ashley Bremmerkamp, and the same time earning points off kills from Langhi, Hicks, Brandley, McClain, and Bremmerkamp.
Marshall County headed back to the court the next night to host Hickman County for senior night. Coach Laura Kinder said, "This was a great game to end the seniors' home play." Both Hicks and Boward on the court against Hickman County, but Jalyn Bedwell was unable to play due to an injury earlier in the season.
The Lady Marshals took the Lady Falcons in three sets (25-22, 25-15, 25-18) with kills going to Langhi, Hicks, Bradley, McClain, and Bremmerkamp. McClain also had four aces for the night.
Marshall finished their regular season at Community Christian Academy last Thursday with a win in three sets over the Lady Warriors (25-22, 25-13, 25-20). As if they Lady Marshals knew that this was their last regular season games, the play seemed to be more intense with Langhi alone earning 22 kills, 10 digs, and two aces. Hicks had 10 kills and 10 digs. Clara Bradley was there for the offense with 20 assists, one kill, and 11 digs, adding to that two blocks.
THIS WEEK: The Lady Marshals faced the Lady Lakers of Calloway Monday night in the first round of the district tournament. The winner of that game advanced to the championship game tonight being held at Christian Fellowship.
NEXT WEEK: The KHSAA region one volleyball tournament will be held next week with the district champions as well as the runner up advancing.
