DRAFFENVILLE -- The Lady Marshals made two appearances at the Marshall County Hoopfest and fought their way to wins in both games.

The ladies faced the Lady Panthers from Russellville Thursdays evening, the first night of Hoopfest. Marshall County took an early lead that steadily grew from three to 21 in a 70-49 victory. The Lady Marshals took a seven-point lead at the end of the first quarter and a three-point shot by Jada Driver and two three's from Presley Jezik to lead by eight at the half.

Halle Langhi started the scoring in the second half with two points followed by a three-point shot from Layne Pea to quickly jump to a 13-point lead. With less than three minutes left in the game, the Lady Panthers whittled away at the Lady Marshal 26-point lead. They used those last few minutes to add five points to cut the lead to 21, but it was not enough to stave the inevitable.

The Lady Marshals took the win 70-49 and earned a new rebound record for the Hoopfest with 56 rebounds. The record of 52 was previous set in 2003 by Oak Hill Academy. Langhi was named the MVP with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and one assist.
