DRAFFENVILLE -- With three weeks left in the volleyball regular season, the Lady Eagles are sitting comfortably in the second seat behind Hickman County. The Lady Eagles will be graduating six seniors out of their impressive program this season.
After taking their 16th win over the Lady Marshals last Tuesday, the Lady Eagles headed into the rest of the week with a determination to keep the victory momentum rolling.
Last Thursday, CFS Lady Eagles traveled to Murray to face the Lady Tigers for a quick three set win. The ladies established the tone of the match with a 25-7 win in the first set. The Lady Tigers dug in and seemed to gain ground in the second set, but the win again went to the CFS in 25-18.
Murray fought to hang on in the third set, but it was too late to stop the Lady Eagles. CFS took the match in a third set win 25-21.
Senior Emma Alexander had 22 assists for the night. Senior Abigail Cima had 11 kills, and Emma Fletcher had nine.
The Lady Eagles took their third match win of the week Friday night at Community Christian. Sets one and two went to the Lady Eagles (25-16, 25-13). The Lady Warriors grabbed the third set for chance to stay in the match. The end came swift in a 25-8 victory for the Lady Eagles for the match win.
Cima had a standout match with 31 kills. Alexander with right there with 48 assists for the match. Fletcher had 17 digs, and Cima had 11.
THIS WEEK: The Lady Eagles will be playing tonight at Calloway County. Friday and Saturday, the ladies will be competing in the Quad State Tournament hosted by McCracken County.
NEXT WEEK: The Lady Eagles have a clear schedule next week before facing University Heights, Community Christian Academy, Caldwell County and Warren East the following week.
