Marshall County’s girls golf team made another statement on the course they claimed their state championship last season by winning the Bowling Green Invitational Saturday with a combined 317 score.
Senior Savannah Howell went into a playoff but finished runner up with a 75, while Trinity Beth was a shot back for third place at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Megan Hertter tied for 11th with an 80 as she utilized a pair of demo clubs from the pro shop after two of her personal clubs were damaged in the trip to Bowling Green. Elsie Riley tied for 25th with her 86. Katie Roberts posted an 87 to tie for 27th.
Also at Bowling Green in boys competition, the Marshals took sixth place out of 20 teams with a 318 led by Trey Wall’s 75 which tied for eighth. Ryan Stokes tied for 24th with a 79, followed by 82s from Camdyn McLeod and David Jack Morris, and a 90 by Hayden Powell.
Wednesday, it was three of a kind when Stokes, Gunner Hoover and Powell all posted 39s in their match win over Trigg County and Caldwell County in Princeton. The Marshals tallied a 161 with Paxton Carter adding the final 44. Tate Scillion also fired a 50 in the match.
