Eagles crowned CCA Christmas tourney champs

The Christian Fellowship Eagles rounded out play in the CCA Warrior Christmas tournament over the weekend, defeating Hickman County, 59-44, and Dresden (TN), 66-60, to finish 3-0 and tourney champions.

In the win over Hickman County, the Eagles received a big game from eighth grade guard Elijah Grigg who poured in a game-high 21 points.

The Eagles finished with three other players in double figures as senior guard Isaac Hovekamp finish with 13 points and seven rebounds, senior forward Luke Grigg added 11 points and seven rebounds and junior guard Andrew Dunning had 10 points and seven boards.

In their championship crowning win, the Eagles defeated Dresden behind two monster performances from Hovekamp and Dunning.

Hovekamp led all scorers with 28 points and six rebounds while Dunning followed closely behind with 23 points and nine rebounds.

During the contest, Dunning scored his 1,000 career point as a Christian Fellowship Eagle.

Luke Grigg added eight points and Elihajh Grigg finished with seven to round out the CFS scoring.

The Eagles now sit at 5-3 overall on the season as district play quickly approaches.

Lady Eagles finish 2-2 in CCA Christmas tourney

Chrsitan Fellowship girls basketball finished the CCA Warrior Christmas tournament on a strong note last week, narrowly defeating Hickman County, 51-50, before taking care of Trigg County, 52-43.

In the win over the Lady Falcons, sophomore guard Gracie Howard shined with another 20-plus point performance, scoring a team-high 22 and pulling down eight boards.

Junior forward Lillian Burnett notched another double-double for the Lady Eagles, finishing the day with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

In its final contest of the week, CFS handled Trigg County with ease thanks to a pair of double-double performances from Gracie Howard and Burnett.

Howard led the way with 22 points and 11 rebounds while Burnett followed with 10 and 10.

The Lady Eagles move to 7-2 overall on the season with this pair of wins and will look to keep things rolling against Ballard Memorial on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at home.
