Wanda Sue Griggs, 74, of Benton, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Baptist Health Paducah.

Wanda was born on January 25, 1947, in Hazel to the late Louis Carr and Sue Simmons Carr. Wanda went on to get her degree from Draughon’s Business College and after college, she began her career working for the Bank of Marshall County where spent over 20 years with the bank as secretary. In her most recent years, she also went to work as an office manager for Marshall County Chiropractic for as long as her health allowed her to. Regardless of where she was working, she is remembered for her friendly personality and always having a smile on her face.

On October 15, 1966, Wanda married the love of her life, Randle Griggs, and the two of them embarked on their journey through life together. They later went on to have one daughter, Amanda Griggs. Wanda and Randle loved to travel and they always enjoyed going to visit with their daughter in whichever state her work had led her to. Besides traveling to visit their daughter, they enjoyed taking trips to Gulf Shores, Gatlinburg, or visiting the New England states and going to look at all of the lighthouses. Her love for lighthouses also led her to start collecting lighthouse figurines and acquiring quite the collection throughout the years. She was also a big fan and loved showing her support for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kentucky Wildcats. Whenever she was at home she loved snuggling up with her miniature schnauzer, Bella, and getting on Facebook so she could keep up with all of her friends and family. She was a member of the Briensburg Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Randle Griggs; her daughter, Amanda Griggs of Nashville, Tennessee; and her brother, Mike Carr of Gilbertsville.

She was preceded in death by her father, Louis Carr; and her mother, Sue Carr Hart.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Marshall County Exceptional Center, P.O. Box 423, Benton, KY 42025.
