With frigid temperatures on the horizon dipping below freezing again, chances are the Joe Creason Community Center at H.H. Lovett Park in Benton will be opened again as a warming center.
A person does not have to be a resident in the city to utilize the center.
The city will announce days it will be open on its Facebook page. Normal hours of operation are 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. each night.
According to Benton Mayor Rita Dotson, the building is large enough that 6-foot social distancing will not be a problem. Standard sanitizing procedures will be in effect including wiping down services an spraying a disinfectant.
The Joe Creason Center is the only warming center in Marshall County. The public is reminded it is not a shelter, only a warming center.
