A check for $1,000 was donated Friday to Benton Needline by the Tennessee Valley Authority Retirees Association to help offset expenses during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The money was made available through a grant from Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc. BVI is a non-profit organization for TVA retirees. Through BVI, volunteers may get involved in a variety of activities including volunteer work, TVA contract work and FEMA relief.

The Western Area Chapter provided donations to the five counties where members reside: Marshall, Calloway and Trigg counties in Kentucky, and Henry and Stewart counties in Tennessee. A food bank or food pantry in each county received a $1,000 check to help serve their area.
