Andy Pagel as his new deputy judge/executive, beginning at the start of the new year.
Pagel enters the role of deputy judge/executive after retiring from a 28-year career in education. He taught various geography and United States history courses at Marshall County High School, while serving both boys and girls soccer programs.
A graduate of MCHS, Pagel received a B.A. in history from Kentucky Wesleyan College, an M.A. in American history from Murray State University, and earned National Board Certified Teacher distinction. He also serves First Baptist of Calvert City as a deacon, represents Dynamo Soccer Club and has sat on multiple community bodies.
Jill Pagel, his wife for over 26 years, and he, have two daughters. In May 2023, Jill Pagel plans to retire from teaching at MCHS while Hadley Pagel will graduate from Western Kentucky University and Janie Pagel will graduate from MCHS.
When asked about this transition, Andrew Pagel responded, “A month ago, this opportunity wasn’t even on my radar. I had planned a different career after retiring from a job that I loved every day, but the time had come for a new challenge. I am honored to have been chosen by Kevin Spraggs to support his efforts to serve our citizens and will work hard to maintain his trust and re-earn this position every day. I have always held interest in doing something like this if the opportunity presented itself, so he didn’t have to work hard to sell it to me. I think I can speak for the entire fiscal court and staff when I say we humbly ask for your support and we look forward to doing the hard work for you that will be required of us.”
