PADUCAH — A Marshall County man died from injuries sustained in a rollover accident last week on Interstate 24.

On Thursday at approximately 6:20 p.m., McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to I-24 West near the 11-mile marker for a single vehicle roll over collision.

According to a press release, a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Joseph Hay, 19, of Marshall County, was traveling west when it hydroplaned, struck a guardrail, and flipped several times, ultimately coming to rest on the driver’s side.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The front seat passenger was identified as Billy Hay, 89, also of Marshall County. Billy Hay was extricated from the vehicle by Reidland-Farley Fire and transported to a local hospital.

Billy Hay was pronounced dead later at the hospital.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Mercy EMS, Reidland-Farley Fire, McCracken County Coroner’s Office, witnesses, and Lents Towing.
