The May meeting of the Marshall County Photography Club was conducted on May 17 at the Calvert City Golf Course meeting room. There were 11 members in attendance plus one guest member. The president, Ran Guennel brought the meeting to order and the following items were discussed:

The club welcomed guest Valerie Begley. She is a professional photographer from Florida who will be a part-time resident in Kentucky. She loves taking portrait, wildlife, butterfly, and many other types of photos including bugs.

The May Photo Challenge was “On a Walk” and three great pictures were presented for voting. Congratulations to first place winner — Kathy Boren, second place winner — Karen Taylor, and third place winner — Diana Lofton. The group discussed upcoming events and agreed to decline pontoon rental at Reelfoot Lake.

The group also agreed a group event will be held below Kentuckyy Dam to take night photos. Denny Dreyer agreed to assist. The group will meet for a short monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on June 21 at the Calvert City Country Club, then go to the event after the meeting. Members should bring a tripod if possible. Other possible events were discussed including the Arboretum at Murray.

New membership and welcome cards have been made. Ceilia Townzen agreed to cut for us. They will be available for distribution at the June meeting.

A new officer position was created as a activities coordinator. The person in this position will assist in scheduling events, contacting other clubs, and setting up professional photo presentations. If anyone is interested in filling this role, please let Guennel know. This person will be considered as a club officer and a voting member of the club.

An open discussion was held regarding having t-shirts or sweatshirts made to advertise the club. Design ideas are requested. Submit should be submitted to Carrie Chandler McClean.

The meeting was adjourned.
