A boutique in Benton is kick-starting the annual collection of food items by Kentucky State Police for local families in need. Now through Dec. 7, Scents n More Boutique will accept non-perishable food items which will be turned over to KSP as part of its annual "Cram the Cruiser." The store is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The official start date for KSP's Cram the Cruiser food drive is Nov. 25 and runs through Dec. 9. Donations for the event may also be made at KSP Post 1 located at 8366 US Hwy. 45 N in Hickory, between Mayfield and Lone Oak. The food items collected are taken directly to food banks and distributed to families in that post district. Sixteen KSP posts across the commonwealth participate in the collection. In 2018, KSP collected 422,662 pounds of non-perishable food items statewide.
