Helping His Hands dedicates two new homes to families
The families of Jonathan and Abigail Shumaker and Billy Burton pose with Director of Helping His Hands Scott Shipman (center) and Helping His Hands board member Bumper Hostetler (right, back) during their home dedication ceremonies. The Shumakers and Burtons homes along Jackson School Road were destroyed during the December 10, 2021 tornado, but thanks to Helping His Hands new homes have been built for them.

An emotional day for all, a tearful Johnathan and Abigail Shumaker accept the keys to their new home from Helping His Hands board member Bumper Hostetler. Abigail Shumaker noted during her speech that losing their home was difficult, but through this process, working with Helping His Hands, the couple’s faith in humanity has been restored, and a weighty burden has been lifted from their shoulders.

Billy Burton speaks during the dedication ceremony, citing how hopeless he felt losing his home, but has seen the power God has had in restoring it. Burton pledged to volunteer with Helping His Hands in their next rebuild, which they plan to begin soon, two houses down from Burton’s on Jackson School Road.
