Several Calvert City organizations have come together to host the annual Calvert City Christmas Bazaar as a fundraiser for the Calvert/Sharpe Family Resource Center which serves students at Calvert Elementary School and Sharpe Elementary School.

The Christmas Bazaar begins Saturday at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. at the following locations: Calvert City Civic Center, Calvert Elementary School, Calvert City United Methodist Church and Lakeland Event Center.

Organizers say more than 100 vendors will have product available for sale at all four Calvert City locations, with what they described as "an overwhelming amount of interest" from local arts and crafts vendors.

Santa will be at Calvert Elementary School for photo opportunities and Disney characters will be at Lakeland Event Center. Door prizes will be given away at each location and those who visit all locations will receive a free t-shirt.

"The Christmas Bazaar has grown from last year far more than I could have hoped," said Lakeland Event Center Director and Event Coordinator Chelsy Solomon. "We've doubled the number of booths and locations this year, giving visitors a fun-filled day of shopping."

Calvert City Director of Marketing and Business Development Blair Travis said, "It's the perfect time to get those personalized gifts for those on your Christmas list. This event highlights our town and gives opportunities to local, small business owners to showcase their business."

Solomon said the vendor booth fees will be donated to the Calvert/Sharpe Family Resource Center and event sponsor funds will be used to purchase toys for the children who benefit from the resource center.

Solomon also said they're planning a Sneak Peek Night from 5-7 p.m. on Nov. 6 but because it's not the formal event, all vendors may not yet be set up.
