It's time to start planning for the holidays and the Benton Partnership hopes to facilitate local shopping as part of the third annual Holiday Open House. This Friday and Saturday, businesses in Benton and Draffenville will open their doors, many with special incentives just for this occasion, and invite the community to come in, look around, and get a jump start on holiday shopping--with the extra incentive of participants' potential to win door prizes or one of two grand prize gift card baskets if you visit every store.
Elena Blevins, Benton Partnership chair, said, "The holiday open house has turned into a wonderful event that not only merchants but shoppers look forward to, we have also added a new competition to the mix for store owners. Shoppers will be invited to vote for their favorite decorated storefront and the store with the most votes wins a cash prize."
Participating businesses are Story's Touch of Country, Solomon's Porch Gift Shop, Puckett's Fine Jewelry & Gift Shop, Sydney's Gifts & Florist, Scents-n-More Boutique, the Gold Gallery, Choppers Boutique & Salon, The Sweet Tee Company, The Marketplace at Parcell's, Polka Dots & Paislees, Rossi Oliver, Antiques Etc., AJ Boutique, The Marshall County Co-Op, Cafe Celebre and Trots Gifts @ Cafe Celebre.
Each shop donates a $25 gift card which goes toward the grand prize gift card baskets, Blevins explained, and event organizers will draw two names from the pool of shoppers who visited every store and get their BINGO card signed at each stop. Those who visit only four in row will be put in a drawing for one of a few donated door prizes.
Each of the participating stores will have BINGO cards available to pick up the week of the event. Winners will be announced on the BP's Facebook page the following week.
Blevins noted participating businesses were not asked to maintain any sort of special business hours for the event and it's up to the shoppers to be aware of each businesses' hours throughout the two days for shopping. Several of the businesses are having specials just for those two days though, so be sure to check The Benton Partnership Facebook page and Open House event page for more details on store savings, discounts and specials. She also noted while patrons are encouraged to shop at each stop, it's not a requirement for participation in the game.
Blevins said the BP is a non-profit organization with a goal of promoting economic development and community involvement within Benton and this event is one way in which the community can do both.
