Virginia Inez Clark Colombo, 93, died Sunday, July 27 at her home in Miami Shores, Florida with her family by her side.

Virginia was born Oct. 3rd, 1920 in Briensburg to Thomas Alva & Jesse Ojal Clark. She grew up in the area and moved to St. Louis in her 20’s, where she began working for Bell Telephone Company as a long-distance operator. She worked for the phone company for 28 years in St. Louis and in Paducah. Her deep strength, and the abiding support of a great family, enabled her to lovingly raise her only child, Leisa, after cancer claimed the life of her husband. After retirement she eventually moved from Benton to Miami Shores, Florida, to live with her daughter’s young family. Virginia so enjoyed watching her two beautiful granddaughters grow up. From bouncing them on her lap to watching them go off to college, she was there every step of the way. Virginia was a loving person who radiated peace and kindness, always thinking of others first and always there with a smile and a hug.

Virginia is survived by her beloved daughter, Leisa Colombo Williams, husband Michael, her granddaughters, Erin and Alison Williams, her sister, Hazel Allen and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her sister, Ruby Nell Wyatt, her brother, Thomas Clark, and her nephew Sherrell “Speedy” Wyatt.

Visitation will be held at Collier Funeral Home in Benton on Saturday August 9 after 10 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 12 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home. Rev. Rodney Wallace will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Briensburg Cemetery.
