Former Marshall County football coach Ron Barnard was indicted by a Marshall County grand jury on multiple sex-related charges Thursday.

Charges include solicitation of the use of a minor in a sexual performance a Class C felony; use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities, a Class D felony; sexual abuse, first degree (a Class D felony); and distribution of obscene matter to minors, a Class A misdemeanor.

The charges stem from offenses alleged involving a 15-year-old freshman at Marshall County High School where Barnard taught and coached football the past four years.

Barnard was arrested on June 4 and was arraigned in Marshall County Circuit Court on June 9. On June 18, he waived his right to a preliminary hearing and instead opted for the case to go to the grand jury.
