Rev. Roy George Bennett, 88 of Calvert City died on Wednesday, July 16 at Calvert City Convalescent Center.

He was an ordained Assembly of God Minister and also worked in education as a school teacher and principal. He was a member of River of Grace Fellowship. Mr. Bennett served in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II.

He was born Sunday, August 30, 1925 in Corning, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Gilbert Bennett and the late Cozy (Dixon) Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille (Crabtree) Bennett of Calvert City; son, Stan Bennett of Tucson, Arizona, brother, Bill Bennett of Marshall, Michigan, sisters, Patricia Parisano of Memphis, Tennessee, Lilly Taylor of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Wanda Bennett Harrell of Searcy, Arkansas and Gladys Kelly of Arkansas; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Teresa Smothers and Maretta Jean Garrard, and brother, Jimmy Bennett.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 19 at River of Grace Fellowship in Benton. Pastor Robert Garrard and Pastor Mike Donald officiated.

Interment with military honors followed in Marshall Co. Memory Gardens in Benton.
