Robert Lee “Bob” Zirkle, 85, of Benton passed away at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 5 at his home.

Bob had retired with 30 years of service to the Chicago Area Transit Authority as a bus driver and supervisor. He was a member of the Union Ridge United Methodist Church and the William A. Doyle Post #236 of the American Legion. Bob was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Corps.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Jean Blare Zirkle of Benton; one daughter, Pamela Kay Taylor of Iuka, Mississippi; two sons, Robert Lee Zirkle, Jr. of Benton and William Roy Zirkle of Berwyn, Illinois; four grandchildren, Richard Alan Taylor, Heather Deanna Wilcox Hughes, Bonnie Lynn Zirkle and Brandon Scott Zirkle; and 10 great grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William Ralph Zirkle and Eva Verl Glendening Zirkle.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7 at the Union Ridge United Methodist Church. Rev. Kim Morrison and Elder Robert Chandler officiated and military rites were conducted by the William A. Doyle Post #236 of the American Legion.
