Leonard Wadlington, 83, of Benton, a native of Trigg County passed away Friday, June 6, at his home in Benton.

Mr. Wadlington had worked for over 40 years in the river barge transportation industry having retired from Mid-South Towing as an assistant operations manager. He had served in the US Navy, was a member of Dyers Chapel United Methodist Church, the International Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Paducah, #85, Retired Rivermen Association, Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121 & the Rizpah Shrine Temple. He had also served on the board of directors for the River Heritage Museum of Paducah, Kentucky.

He is survived by one daughter, Janet Wadlington, Benton, two sisters and brothers-in-law- Pauline and Clint P’Pool, Cadiz, and Barbara and Bill Jenkins, Cadiz, and by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Felix Cotton Wadlington, mother, Ruby Mitchell Wadlington, wife, Mary Lou Wadlington, one son, Ben Wadlington, one brother, Felix Wadlington, four sisters, Juanita Kennedy, Catherine Wadlington, Dorothy Bridges and Mary Jane Harvey.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St. in Cadiz where the family will receive friends after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10.

Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11. Reverend Irvin Darnall will officiate. Burial will follow at Wadlington Family Cemetery in Trigg County.
