He was born Wednesday, July 7, 1926 in Elkmont, Alabama. He was the son of the late Marvin McLemore and the late Pearl (Haraway) McLemore. He was the husband of Wanda (King) McLemore of Benton.
He retired as the Chief Chemical Operator for Penwalt Chemical Company in Calvert City. He attended the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during War II while stationed in Italy. He was a member of Briensburg Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Caroline McLemore Freeman of Benton, Susan Jayne McLemore of Benton and Molly Anne Ross of Dexter, one step-daughter, Shelley Brien of Calvert City, one step-son,Tony Wallace of Gilbertsville and extended family, Neal McWaters of Benton, two grandchildren, Katie Ross Prohm of Murray and Elizabeth Ross of Louisville, seven step-grandchildren, Adam Brien of Portland Oregon, Amie Brien Heath of Calvert City, Kelsey Wallace of Mayfield, Phoenix Wallace of Gilbertville, Kyler Nix of Gilbertsville, Nicola Kastner of Medina, Tennessee, Natalie Zacharko of Murray and Keith Ross of Paducah, one sister, Dorothy “Dot” Copeland Morehead of Calvert City and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Bobby McLemore, Gene McLemore and James Bufford McLemore, two sisters, Betty Goheen and Mildred Davis.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at the Briensburg Church of Christ . Gary Knuckles officiated.
Interment with full military honors was provided by the William A. Doyle American Legion Post 236 colorguard and followed the service in Marshall Co. Memory Gardens in Benton.
