She was born Sunday, December 1, 1918 in Hico, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Ben Hickerson and Nova (Barksdale) Hickerson. She and her late husband Derril were the former owners of King Brothers Supermarket. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Murray State Racer fan, she loved cooking, fishing and traveling. Mrs. King was a member of the First Baptist Church in Benton.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald King, wife Linda of Benton, and Ted King, wife Joan of Murray, two daughters, Janie Parker, husband Sam and Carol Holland, husband Steve both of Nashville, one sister, Virginia Gillenwater of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, six grandchildren, Wendy Vasquez, Melody Johnson and Laurie Parker all of Nashville, Warren King of Benton, Jennifer Sevilla of Murray and Meghan Clark of Paducah, seven great-grandchildren, Avery Vasquez, Ashley Grace Vasquez, Aidan Vasquez and Elsie Johnson all of Nashville, Oliver King of Benton, Brayden Clark of Paducah, and Jake Sevilla of Murray.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Derril King, one brother, James Hickerson and one sister, Emily Hickerson.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 11 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Rev. Don Wilson officiated. Interment followed the service in the Marshall Co. Memory Gardens in Benton.
