Inclement weather played havoc with outdoor sporting events last week, with several postponements of major activities.
The Region 1-AAA track and field meet, scheduled Friday in Greenville, was called off because of threatening weather and moved to Monday.
The Marshall County girls were the defending champions and the boys were the runner-up team in last year’s meet.
Results of the meet will be reported in the Trib’s online edition, with follow-up coverage in the print edition of May 20 along with a preview of the state meet Friday and Saturday, May 23-24, at the University of Kentucky’s Shiveley Track Complex in Lexington.
Also affected were the Kentucky Christian Athletic Conference state baseball and softball tournaments in Louisville. The events, washed out on Saturday, are planned for this Saturday.
Briensburg’s Christian Fellowship School will compete in both events.
The CFS fastpitch softball team returned to varsity-level competition this year for the first time since 2006. The Lady Eagles have a 6-10 record.
Auto racing at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway was held as scheduled on Saturday night, but the program on Friday night at Paducah International Raceway was called off because of wet weather.
