Mr. Kenton Holland, 91, of Benton passed away Saturday, March 15at 8:06 a.m. at the Marshall Co. Hospital E. R. in Benton.

He was born Monday, October 9, 1922 in Benton. He was a retired Machinist from Penwalt Chemical in Calvert City. He served 42 years on the Benton City Council, 25 years on the Benton Electric Board, was a former member of the Marshall County Hospital Board and was a charter member of the Benton Country Club and served 46 years as a volunteer fire fighter with the Benton Fire Department. During World War II, he worked in the Naval Yard in South Carolina. He was the oldest living member of the Benton First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son, Stanley Kenton”Butch” Holland and his wife Dona Suzanne Yates Holland of Benton, two daughters by marriage, Anne Bradley of Bowling Green and Becky Rice of Henderson, three grandchildren, Brad Holland, Angela Petty and Whitney Heppner, five grandchildren by marriage, four great grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren by marriage also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Holland and Myrtle (Brien) Holland, his first wife of 53 years, Eulene (Darnall) Holland, his second wife of 9 years, Sylvia Jane (Lovett) Bradley Holland, four brothers, Brien Holland, Earl Holland, Thomas Holland and Woodrow Holland, and three sisters, Argania “Gainey” Smith, Elizabeth Heath and Mary Jo Strow.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Rev. David Atkinson and Dr. Gene Gilliland will officiate.

Interment is to follow in the Benton Cemetery.
