He was born April 21, 1939 in Franklin County Illinois, the son of Napolean Alva Bain and Roberta Maxine (Moss) Bain. He married Anita Jean (Hiltibidal) Bain on June 17, 1961.
He is survived by his wife and four children. Dayna Maas and husband Larry of Kell, Ill., Jonathan Bain and wife Lynn of Walnut Hill, Ill., Carol Bain and friend Chris Gates of Nashville, Tenn., Gregory Bain and wife Mary of Collinsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Stephanie Maas, Erin Maas, Rachel Maas, Jaimie Fletcher, Justin Bain, Emily Bain, Aurora Bain; great-grandchildren Kingston and Harlow. He is also survived by one sister Mary Bauer and husband George of Benton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Bain served as a deacon at Pleasant View Free Will Baptist Church of rural Walnut Hill where he was a life long member. He was an active member of the congregation at Benton Church of the Nazarene.
Bill graduated from Benton High School Class of 1958 in Benton, Ill., and would attend one year at the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tenn. He was a long time employee of Littlefuse, Inc. of Centralia, IL. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, antique car enthusiast and storyteller.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22 at the Leffler-Poulson Funeral Home of Benton, Ill. Rev. David Burgess officiated. Burial followed in the Liberty-Ridlin Cemetery near Macedonia.
