A pair of victories last week lifted Marshall County’s Lady Marshals to a 15-2 record, second only to Fourth District rival Murray in First Region high school basketball.
Marshall County won at Tilghman for the first time since Jan. 28, 2011. It was the second win in a row over Tilghman for the Lady Marshals, who lost both regular season games last year but rocked the Lady Tornado 64-47 in a First Region tournament semifinal.
They defeated Graves County at home to run their winning streak against the Lady Eagles to 19 games. Graves has not defeated Marshall since a 50-46 win on Jan. 24, 2006.
Bailey Greer had a pair of 13-point games for the Lady Marshals.
THIS WEEK: A busy week opened with a visit Monday by Martin (Tenn.) Westview, in a make-up for the Hoop Fest game against Mount Carmel, Ill., that was canceled because of ice.
Hopkinsville visits Reed Conder Gymnasium tonight at 7:30.
Two games in the Gunner’s Magic Train Classic on Friday and Saturday close out a four-game week. Opponents are McCracken County and Cairo, Ill.
The Lady Marshals defeated Hopkinsville on the road last year, 61-35. The Lady Tigers started this week with an 8-9 record.
Marshall County defeated McCracken County 54-39 in the first meeting between the two schools in Paducah Dec. 13.

PADUCAH – Tilghman battled back from an early deficit and closed to 38-34 in the opening seconds of the final quarter.
But Alyssa Barnard drained back-to-back 3-point jumpers to push the lead to 10 and the lead never got below 6 points the rest of the way.
Barnard had 19 points to lead the winners. Bailey Greer and Allie York added 13 apiece.
Karlee Humphrey scored 21 for the Lady Tornado.

DRAFFENVILLE – The Lady Marshals led all the way, pushing their advantage to as much as 16 points.
Graves County took advantage of four turnovers and 2-of-10 free-throw shooting by the Lady Marshals in the fourth quarter to pull as close as 40-37, but could get no closer.
Bailey Greer had 13 points to lead the winners. Bailey Hawkins had 13 to lead Graves.
