He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Calvert City. He was a retired self-employed insurance agent.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Shields Thompson of Calvert City; two daughters, Connie Russell Burt of Calvert City and Lisa Kay Hammond of Gallatin, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Sara Russell Hughes, Andrew Huebschmann, Aaron Huebschmann, Spencer Hammond, Walter Hammond and Jay Franklin Hammond; one great grandchild, Ian Russell Hughes and one sister, Linda June Harris of Beech Grove, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Franklin Thompson and Evelyn Rhumilla Riggs Thompson.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15 at First Baptist Church in Calvert City, KY. Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
