Mr. Alonso was born January 9, 1945 in Mexico City, Mexico and later moved to the United States in 1971. He was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Paducah. He graduated from Politecnico Nacional in Mexico City, Mexico with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. His work experience includes, McGaw Laboratories, General Dynamics, IO Lab, and Johnson & Johnson where he retired in 2000. He was a huge UK basketball fan, an avid boxing and soccer fan, and loved to travel. Mr. Alonso was a proud American and embraced the culture, especially music, politics, and sports. He was a proud and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather, and will forever be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Victoria Gonzalez Alonso; two daughters, Christine Turner of Paducah, and Jennifer Alonso of Paducah; one son, Jose J. Alonso of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one granddaughter; four sisters, Luisa Alonso of Houston, Texas, Juana Alonso of Houston, Texas, Francisca Alonso of Mexico City, Mexico, and Martha Alonso of Benton; two brothers, Juan Alonso of Mexico, and Victor Alonso of Sun City, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Alonso was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Elvira Marmolejo Alonso; one sister; and one brother.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 9 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Rev. Kenny Locke officiated.
