Randy Newcomb, Executive Director of the Marshall County Tourist Commission, was chosen by the Kentucky Travel Industry Association (KTIA) as its 2013 Member of the Year.

Newcomb was presented the award at the KTIA Annual Conference on Nov. 7, at the Seelbach Hilton Hotel in Louisville.

Newcomb said he was surprised he was chosen.

“I am very humbled and honored to be chosen by my peers to receive this award,” he said.

The committee that chooses the recipient of the award selects a winner based on several criteria including involvement in the association, involvement with the Board of Directors and committees, recruitment of new members and contributions through work on legislative issues and other association programs.

A statement released by the KTIA said, “Newcomb is a strong and courageous leader within the association, his contributions, especially on the legislative front, are invaluable and will enhance the association for years to come.”

Newcomb has been a member of the KTIA for several years and now serves on the board of directors of the organization.
