Melvin “Finkle” King, age 86, of Benton, died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Parkview Nursing Center in Paducah. Mr. King was a retired laborer for the Shawnee Steam Plant and was a member of Faith Gospel in Gilbertsville. He also served in the US Army.

He was the son of the late William King and the late Ruby King. He was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Ann King; one son: Ricky Lee King; two sisters: Mae Valdez and Mary Lou Barnes; and three brothers; Clay King, Woodrow King, and James Thomas King.

He is survived by one daughter: Diann Phelps of Benton; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home in Benton, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Oct. 29. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Oct. 30. Interment will be at Dees Cemetery, Calvert City.
