Charles Clifton “Cliff” Thomasson, 92, of Paducah passed away at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, October 19 at Lourdes Hospital.

Mr. Thomasson was a member of St. Thomas More Church, serving as church usher for many years. He retired from the A&P Tea Company as a butcher, meat department manager and later store manager. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Southwest Pacific in the China, Burma, India Theater. Mr. Thomasson played on the 1938 State Championship Basketball team from Sharpe High School. He played baseball in the late 1940’s on the Twin State Baseball League and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two sons, Larry Thomasson and wife Linda of Cadiz and David Thomasson and wife Ruthie of Calvert City; seven grandchildren, Drew Thomasson and wife Jennifer, Cara Arnold and husband Jon, Kyle Thomasson and wife Lisa, Ethan Thomasson, Eric Thomasson, Nathan Lemons and wife Holly and Matthew Newberry and wife Kimberly; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Bolger Thomasson; three sisters, Edith Barnes, Mary Clay Thomasson and Alvis Brooks; and three brothers, Frank Thomasson, Ernest Thomasson and James Thomasson. His parents were Ed and Rebecca Binkley Thomasson.

Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Father J. Patrick Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
