Mr. Raymond David “Ray” Hipkins, 76 of Benton, passed away Friday, August 23, at Baptist Health in Paducah.

Born Tuesday, October 13, 1936 in Palmyra, Missouri, he retired after 34 years of service from Case-International in East Moline, Ill. where he worked in the Induction Hardening department. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, obtaining the rank of Seargent. He was an avid sportsman, loved to hunt and fish.

Surviving are his wife; Dorothy (Parker) Hipkins of Benton, three sons, Kelvin Hipkins, wife Chris of Milan, Ill., Mike Newberry of Andalusia, Ill. and Brian Hipkins, wife Janice of Cleveland, Ill., three daughters, Patricia Ward of Benton, Sandra Ben-Nun, husband Boaz of Colona, Ill. and Melissa Brower, husband Kenneth of Colona, Ill., one brother, Earl Ralph Hipkins of Geneseo, Ill., one sister, Maryland Beaver of Monroe City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and four great grand children.

He was preceded in death by his father; Burl Q. Hipkins, Sr., his mother; Eva May (Reddick) Hipkins, three brothers; Burl Q. Hipkins, Jr., Ronald Hipkins and John Wayne Hipkins, two sisters, Shirley Gunter and Eva Renee Hipkins.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Rev. Jim Greenwell will officiate. Interment with military honors are to follow the service in the Provine Cemetery, Benton.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
