He was born November 24, 1941 in Cleaton. He was a machine operator for the TPW railroad. He attended Faith Gospel Temple in Gilbertsville.
He is survived by five sons; Edvern Masden of Pontiac, Ill., Tony Glen Masden of Chatsworth, Ill., Carlos Brasher, wife Barb of Nortonville, Jeff Brasher, wife Cathy of Calvert City, Phillip Brasher, wife Shawn of Nortonville, two daughters; Frieda Bussey, husband Ken of Grand Rivers, Sandy House, husband Dewayen of New Hope, Ark., brother, Roger Masden, wife Shelby of Hoopeston, Ill., five sisters; Andrea Lewis of Hamilton, Ala., Renda McDonald of Gilman, Ill., VaRetta James of Gary, Ind., Austeen James, husband Waylon of Wheatfield, Ind., Vinell Miranda, husband Efrain of Muncie, Ind., 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and one aunt, Sue Mahon of Beechmont and Cindy Neal, a special niece who served as caregiver, also survives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Masden, his mother, Irene (Vincent) Hughes, his wife, Earline (Phelps) Masden, son, Randy Joe Masden and daughter, Theresa Menser.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 25 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Rev. Terry Phelps and Rev. Mark Shumaker officiated. Interment followed the service in the Marshall County Memory Gardens.
