Mr. James Earl Whitt, 85 of Symsonia died on Saturday, July 27 at 11:10 p.m. at his residence. He was a member of Symsonia United Methodist Church. He retired from White Castle where he was a construction supervisor. He was a member of the Symsonia Masonic Lodge # 917, Shriner’s and the Scottish Rite. He was also a very charitable man and very well respected in the community. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during WWII.

Born Wednesday, March 14, 1928 in Symsonia.

Surviving are his son, William “Doug” Clarke and his wife Sherry of St. Louis, daughter, Mary Beth Sharp and her husband John of Centennial, Colo.; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Genevieve (Miller) Whitt, his brothers John P. Whitt, Carlton Whitt, Albin Whitt and sister Betty Whitt. His parents were the late William Loyd Whitt and Cleo Styerss Whitt.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday August 1 at Collier Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in Clarks River Cemetery, Symsonia, KY.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 31from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Collier Funeral Home. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 pm.
