Born July 12, 1952 in Halsted England, she was a member of Vaughn’s Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was also a Gideon International Auxilliary member. She was a graduate Paducah Community College and earned a bachelor of science in nursing degree from Murray State University. She was a registered nurse and was the director of the geriatric rehabilitation unit at Murray Calloway County Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Steven P. Hopkins, Benton; her mother, June (Whiting) Whitear, Coggeshall, England; one daughter, Terri Franklin, Calvert City; two sons, Alex Hopkins, Benton, and Justin Hopkins of Paducah; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Three sisters, Sheelagh Whitear, Wenterton-on-Sea, England, Dawn Whitear, Darlington, England and Janet Clarkson, Felixtowe, England, and two brothers, Darren Whitear and Chris Camp, both of Braintree, England also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Whitear.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25, in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Rev. Wendall Ordway officiated.
