Raymond Dann, age 84 of Calvert City, passed away Tuesday, April 23, at 7:33 a.m. at his home.
Born March 30, 1929 in East Chicago, Ind., Ray was a first generation American (and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan), and the youngest of seven children born to Roman and Magdalena Darlosen Dan. When he was a teen, his eldest brother added a second “n” to the family name.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he worked as a clerk for Blaw Knox in East Chicago, and in 1969 moved his family to Calvert City, where he was employed by Airco Alloys, later SKW Alloys, from where he retired. He then worked a few more years at LWD.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Drilling Dann, his parents, and his siblings.
Surviving are his children Linda Dann and partner Roy Levine, San Diego, Cali,, Leslie Kemp, Murfreesboro, Tenn, Eric Dann and wife Deanna, Calvert City; and his granddaughter Kristin Kemp, Laurel, Md.; his sister-in-law Georgia Dann, Lake Forest, Cali. and several nieces and nephews. He is remembered by Deanna’s family, Nathan and Emily Ferguson, and Jake Gipson.
His family would like to thank Lourdes Hospice for their support and care, which made it possible for Ray to die peacefully at home.
