A Benton man has been arrested and charged with the burglary of Benton pharmacy last night. Ronnie Fleet, 38, of Benton, was arrested after police received a call of a suspicious individual walking in the vicinity of Benton Country Club.

Fleet was arrested on the golf course at the Country Club and after a brief struggle with police, several bottles of medication, along with burglary tools, were discovered in his backpack. The items were positively identified by Benton Pharmacy employees as items that were taken in the burglary that occurred at around 2:30 Friday morning.

Fleet was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property U/$10,000, Resisting Arrest, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of Burglar's Tools.

Fleet was lodged in The Marshall County Jail.

Benton Police are working an overnight burglary at Benton Pharmacy, 2602 Main Street. An alarm was activated at around 2:30 a.m. When police arrived they found the pharmacy had been entered by a three foot by three foot hole that had been knocked into the north side of the building.

Suspects entered the pharmacy and took an unknown amount of prescription medication.

Police say they have no suspects at this time. The pharmacy's owner is currently performing an audit of inventory and video surveillance is being reviewed.

The Benton Police Department was assisted by the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, along with the McCracken County Sheriff Department's K-9 unit.
