Marshals advance to district final; Lady Marshals meet Calloway tonight

MURRAY -- Chase Clark scored 20 points to lead top-seeded Marshall County to a 79-38 victory over Community Christian Academy of Paducah Monday night in the first round of the Fourth District basketball tournament at Calloway County's Jeffrey Gymnasium.

The Marshals had a 19-0 run at the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second to run out to a 29-10 lead and never looked back. Austin Rentfrow added 12 points for the Marshals, 26-4, who now move on to the championship game Thursday night. They will play the winner of tonight's game between Calloway County and Murray, the No. 2 and 3 seeds.

Tonight at 6 p.m., the Lady Marshals play Calloway County in another game featuring the No. 2 and 3 seeds. The winner will meet top-seeded Murray, which advanced with an 80-38 win Monday night over Community Christian.

The Marshall girls, 22-8, won both regular-season meetings with Calloway County, which brings a 15-15 record into tonight's game.

District champions and runner-up teams advance to the First Region tournament next week at Murray State University.
