A native of Binghamton, N.Y., and a long-time resident of the Illinois Central Hunting and Fishing Club, Gilbertsville, Phillip was well known around town as a generous and colorful human being. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Kusbel, born May 23, 1929, was the son of Rose Juriga and Phillip M. Kusbel, Czechoslovakian descent, whose earliest recorded U.S. residence was 1917 in Broome County, N.Y. Phillip was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Elligett; son, Gary Scott Kusbel and grandson, Jason Rhode.
Mr Kusbel was retired from the United States Air Force and a long career as Brewmaster at Anheuser-Busch.
Survivors include his wife, Susan C. Johnson of Hull, Ga., age 55; youngest stepdaugher, Kelsea Ann Johnson, age 17; stepsons Mark and Christopher Rakauskas; sisters Violet Cimbora of Spring Hill, Fla. and Jane Durrell of Santee, Ga.; youngest daughter, Lynda Marie McDonald, married to Kenyon McDonald; eldest daughter, Cindy Ann Rohde, married to Tim Rohde; granddaughter Jennifer, married to John Kelly; three great-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jamie and Julie; eldest son, Michael C. Kusbel, married to Sophia, San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Anthony Phillip Kusbel; great-grandsons, Joshua Clair Kusbel, Michael John Kusbel and great-great-granddaughter Kesia Kusbel.
