The lane restriction is to allow conduit and a new fiber optic cable to be placed along the bridge structure. This cable replaces a communications line that was severed when the 8200-ton ocean going Cargo Ship Delta Mariner struck the bridge last year, knocking a 300 ft. span into Kentucky Lake.
Motorists can expect to encounter one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers from approximately 8:00 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m., CST. Motorists should use appropriate caution where equipment, flaggers, and electrical personnel are working on the bridge deck.
The contractor expects the work to take 3 or 4 days.
