Taylor Meadows moved past the 1,000-point mark in career scoring with a 24-point effort that led Marshall County to a 65-54 victory over Calloway County Friday night.

That was the first of two straight wins in Fourth District competition for the Lady Marshals, who also won Saturday night at Community Christian Academy in Paducah.

The two victories give the Lady Marshals a 2-1 district record. The defending district and First Region champions are 12-4 overall.

Three games are on tap for the Lady Marshals this week, starting with a visit by Paducah Tilghman today. The Lady Tornado won both meetings between the two schools last year and were 10-4 going into a Saturday night game against Reidland.

On Friday, the Lady Marshals are at Graves County, then return home for a Saturday matchup with Marion, Ill.

Graves County is 6-8 going into the week with a game today at home against St. Mary.

Against Calloway Friday night, the Lady Marshals took an 27-26 lead midway in the second period and never gave it up. The go-ahead basket by Toni Fehrenbacher came during a 10-0 run that followed a three-point basket by Calloway’s Summer Simmons that gave the Lady Lakers a 26-23 edge, their first lead since a 5-4 advantage early in the game.

Following Meadows were Alex Brown with 13 points and Mariah McKenty with 11. Brown also pulled down 11 rebounds for Marshall County.

Simmons led the Lady Lakers with 15.
