A Gilbertsville native, he was the son of Ed and Lillian Crenshaw Egner and husband of Merva Dee Smith Egner of Calvert City.
He served during World War II in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Mt. Moriah Primative Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; a son, David Egner of Calvert City; grandchildren Christy Jenkins and Patrick Egner, both of Calvert City, and Lynn Egner of Gilbertsville; and three great-grandchildren, Shelby Taylor of Calvert City, and Gracie Egner and Luke Franklin Egner, both of Gilbertsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mildred E. King and Juanita Inman Pugh.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, Jan. 8, at noon at Fooks Cemetery with the Elder Danny Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow with military honors. There is no public visitation scheduled.
