Charles Edward Travis, 85, of Benton died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at his home.
He was a charter member of Walnut Street Baptist Church. He was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed dancing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by a son, Gary Travis; a daughter, Charletta Travis; and a brother, Donald Travis, all of Benton; two sisters, Anna Lou Collins of Benton,and Mavis Duncan of Almo; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Wayne Travis, and a sister, Mildred Proctor. His parents were Lowell Prentise Travis and Ola Alice Ross Travis.
The funeral was Saturday. Jan. 5, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory. Bro. Mark Thweatt and Bro. Joel Frizzell officiated. Burial with military rites followed in Benton Cemetery.
