Doris Pickering, 80 of Benton died Saturday, Dec. 29, at 3:40 a.m. at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

A native of Mannington, she was a homemaker and was the daughter of Howard Maxwell and Sarah Langston Maxwell.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Calvert City. She taught the adult Sunday School class in Calvert City and in Nortonville for a combined 50 years.

Surviving are daughter Suzanne P. Mitchell and a grandson, Stuart Mitchell, both of Atlanta.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold Eugene Pickering.

The funeral will be Monday, Dec. 31, at noon in the Collier Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Adele Ambler officiating. Interment will follow the service at 3 p.m. in New Salem Church Cemetery in Nortonville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on the day of the funeral.
