Clark was the passenger in a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Katlynn Hargrove, 18, of Marshall County. Hargrove told deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department a gust of wind caused her to lose control of her car and she ran off the road striking a tree. Both Clark and Hargrove were wearing seat belts, said Sheriff Kevin Byars.
Hargrove was transported to Marshall County Hospital. The extent of her injuries is not know at this time. An investigating deputy described her as conscious and alert before she was taken to the hospital.
Clark was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by the Marshall County Coroner's office.
