Fred Geiser Simmen, 87, died Dec. 10, 2012 at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Fla.

Mr. Simmen was born in Rahway, N.J., to Kenneth Simmen and Georgia Geiser Simmen. From his home on Kentucky Lake in Marshall County he moved to Vero Beach in 1999.

He was a flight cadet in the U.S. Navy and then a boatswain’s mate stationed in Guam during World War II. He was a fomer member of Christian Fellowship Church.

Survivors include his son, Kenneth S. Simmen II of Vero Beach; daughters Leslie Miller of Bayside, N.Y., and Joy Hamburger of Ridgewood, N.J.; granddaughters Sidney Sollazo, Alexis Miller and Zoe Hamburger; grandson Max Hamburger; great-granddaughter Olivia Sollazo; and great-grandson Samuel Sollazo.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Hope Simmen; sister Joyce Little; first wife Alyce and second wife Shirley.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at Riverside Church Assembly of God in Sebastian, Fla.
